This is based on one random article I read, but I thought the word “militia” meant the government’s standing army, and they are “well regulated” by the citizenship, who are just as well armed.

No, militia meant every civilian man of fighting age. The idea was that when armed, those best equipped to defend a region were the people who called it home, which was obviously the case during the Revolution.

The other reason, and the reason it was a requirement that they be "well regulated" (which of course really means well trained, but it also means well equipped and supplied, i.e., no rusty falling apart boomer FUD weapons, make sure you have related gear etc. and make sure you have actual supplies, like food, water purification and other such things) was that the founders understood wars all ultimately turn into a logistics battle if they are fought for very long, and a populace that was well trained, but also well equipped with high quality (and importantly, competitive) weaponry and supplies to actually DO a war would absolutely annihilate any professional army, whether that be a tyranny at home or a foreign enemy.
