People tend to naturally adopt the views of those that are closest to them. His daughter pushed for the CoC and eventually she got her way. If his own daughter is buying the BS then he becomes far more susceptible to it. I'm not saying he doesn't make his own choices but it's a lot harder to tell someone like your daughter to fuck off with the bullshit if you want to keep them in your life.

It's called growing a spine. I've told immediate family members that they're evil and to never speak to me again (because they are). It works great.
