I don't hate Ubuntu. As a DISTRO, it's such an amazing gateway for new users. The dirivitives like Mint or PopOs prove this. What I hate is SNAP and their constant tinkering with the base Kernel.
Nowadays, The "easy" arch clones are everything that Ubuntu once was.
At this point, any time someone asks me what to start with I say Mint and I may try out PopOs since a lot of people seem to like it too. Ubuntu is getting a little too hands-on with users rather than just being easy and stable.
A friend of mine has a late 60's parent that has been using Mint for a couple of years a now and his "tech support" calls are basically zero now. They just brows the internet some and use email and a little social media. It "just works".
I find it funny that no one recommends MXLinux or Manjaro. In my opinion. both are easier and better set up than any of the *Buntu children
I will have to test them out but I mostly use RHEL based distros for various reasons. It has been a while since I ran something like Ubuntu/Mint. I would normally just use base Debian rather than something like that.
