Use instead. You'll probably like it better

I was using smplayer and it's nice but I use bakaplayer because for some reason anime looks much better on it.

mpv is where it's at for me. I love benig able to fast forward/rewind with the scroll wheel.

Plus it does a better job of buffering when you're playing a video from a network like a NAS or url.

I did some checking on why smplayer was displaying anime so badly and I found right off that even though mpv can be used instead smplayer used mplayer2, little better but then I tried a few tricks like using VDPAU and postprocessing set to up to 6 layers of filters and a few smaller tweaks and now it looks much better and that lag when using the mousewheel to move forward and the video not going but the audio playing is gone. I guess mplayer2 was the part fucking up everything because before when I had mplayer2 I couldn't use VDPAU at all, it would error on me. So thanks for getting on my ass so I'd get my ass in gear and fix it like a real linux user and not a windows drone.

THat's why I use smplayer because it's the mpv gui. I like baka also an mpv gui because it has better graphics for anime for some reason.

yes. move is very nice.

the answer to fix vlc was in the comments tho... it is qt that is refactoring button size based on pixel density or screen size. I figured it out after finding multiple qt programs suffering the same problem.
