If you download video programs or iso images then you must check out extreme download manager that is in my repository, you also have to install the firefox/waterfox extension for intergration. It takes a little bit to get it set up but it's worth it. My usual download speed is around 1.4MB/sec without this downloader. Well this unit downloads from the websites like a torrent in pieces so you are downloading 4 parts or whatever at a time. I download with this often reaching speeds of 5.3 and 6.4 tonight and have hickups of 9.6 occasionally but our wireless router is the pinch point because I'm connected at 72 mb/sec now and a direct cable connection I believe I'd be at 9 or 10 MB/sec download speed. It's a great Linux program to increase your download speed significantly and safe compared to a bittorrent which is not from the server but a bunch of stangers you have no idea of

Jdownloader is great too

I'll check that out, haven't heard of it but any good software I can add to my arsenal is a good thing.

Just installed it. I was surprised because this is the first install window I've seen in Linux in the 5 years I've been using it. I started by making it executable and dragging it into an su terminal and then the window popped up and it seems it's just candy because it did the same operations in the terminal at the same time. Seems decent but I'll find out when downloading since it seems like you need to pay for the full package like crippleware where the best part is removed till you pay. I don't like the registration part though, I like my software free to use without a signup.

if you use the command line only version, I think it's totally free.
