I wasn't happy with the last story on the NVIDIA open source drivers so I found another with more facts that ease a couple questions like home users will have to wait till the kernel team works on the driver model since it is not compliant to all Linux conventions and will need some work to get there. Also mentioned "The source code will also be used to improve the open-source Nouveau driver." which for older NVIDIA cards this might though not made for them specifically this will make it so Nouveau drivers will be able to point to NVIDIA hardware so they will get more out of their hardware. Now if we can stop linux from saving power on everything so it works slow as molasses instead of leaping out like a race car which should be the aim of hardware drivers not be a NASCAR but only able to get up to Prius speed because of power throttling.
