Software is not the problem, programmers are all going to the governments that are any good and the rest are left for tech for the masses. I think this is the problem with linux. GTK is going to shit and they went to system D and that allow less capable devs to create software that is lacking but works. Hell our systems are slower it seems than just 20 years ago where windows xp I had on a single core 1.6 ghz with 1.5gb of ram would make it fly but it won't do half the speed now with 10x those specs so linux is creating a hardware demand where we actually need geniuses in software speed not faster hardware. Also drivers and bioses are not growing faster just more gui decortation that no one gives a fuck about.

By government I meant the part that makes viruses and shit like the one that took out the Iranian uranium enrichment centers. The ones that create back-doors into everyone's computers and put holes in encryption technologies. The antivirus companies are only finding these holes and then it's back to hacking away at privacy of citizens so they are vulnerable to other hackers.
