Yeah, yeah, yeah, Linux is so good, Linux is so wonderful, Linux is so easy to use, Linux is so configurable. Except, only a small percentage of people use it. Hmmmm, that seems strange, doesn't it? If Linux is so fucking wonderful, why do so few people actually use it?

I know why, because I've tried to use Linux on five or six different occasions. Linux installs easily. It looks good. It's not that hard to use. Then you do something -- and you never know exactly what it is -- and Linux simply locks up on you. There is no way to get it to work. Nothing you do will being it back. So you are forced to uninstall it, which is a small nightmare in itself.

That's why people don't use the wonderful, amazing, beautiful thing called Linux. It doesn't work for them.

Linux is used by millions every day. It's also well known its use is dramatically under reported. I don't see your point.

and Linux simply locks up on you.

That would be exceptionally rare. Windows and Macs both have such issues. More commonly than Linux. So again, I don't see your point.

The singular reason people use Linux less than Mac or Windows is games. Period. And that continues to change. Daily.

The singular reason people use Linux less than Mac or Windows

People generally will use the default OS. hassle/hurdle to switch.

and Linux simply locks up on you.

That is from personal experience from installing something and tweaking it manually with the file manager. To easy to blame and installation then to say I was in the file browser and accidentally hit the delete key and a file/folder was gone so I shut the file manager and made up this install story so I would not be seen as an idiot.

I did admit my mistake, we're all human, and I didn't feel shame, still using Linux. I looked and made sure what keys I was pressing and not typing past my ability where I'm hitting function keys and shit just guessing where that key is that I have to reach far with my finger for.

I think it's because people who have used windows for years hate to admit "though they are just basic users" that they don't know what they are doing and are not in any way technically minded. They don't understand the terms and refuse to look them up on a search engine. The especially and you know this do not ever RTFM.

There is a ton of info and most windows users besides programmers and some gamer's rarely know or care to know, they are stupid and simply want to press a button for instant gratification though the gratification of learning the basics of Linux is an ordeal that brings gratification to the user.

I used to watch the installations in Linux just staring at the words and paths and noticed words like hook and build and clean temp "during installs", and I wanted themes and wallpapers and I was sick of mint cinnamon rubber stamp looking themes so I found a bunch of info on the Linux file system in the system area and home and realized that you could install stuff for theming in the insecure home or the secure system area.

I think most people have no curiosity "spoon feed it to me baby" and are to decadent just wanting a brain-dead good time and god forbid some real knowledge sticks in their brains accidentally. People think I'm nuts sometimes but the ones that don't are almost all engineers since I believe I see things like they do, it's either works or it doesn't no bios either way just facts and troubleshooting.
