I installed updates, rebooted, and now I just get this at the sddm login screen. The virtual keyboard comes up first, but this is what shows up after closing it. Neither Wayland or X11 plasma sessions will load upon login. I just get sent back to this.

My searching showed two results with someone having this same issue in the last couple of years, but one of them removed their post and the other was never replied to.

I tried running the CLI lookandfeeltool to change the theme, but it throws a very similar error. I also installed Xfce to see if it was just plasma, and that won't run either. Any thoughts?

I installed the xfce desktop environment package group and tried logging in with that session, but I get the same thing: black screen with mouse cursor for a few secs then back to the login.

/var/log/messages isn't being particularly helpful either. Just for shits and giggles I ran a "dnf reinstall -y '*'" so we'll see how that goes...

X may have its own log apart from messages.

Turned out it was hardware failure. Linux is pretty tolerant to a point. When I tried to install Windows however (for work and on a separate brand new HDD) the installer just wouldn't finish. It would fail at different points every time.
