Mint is running on borrowed time. Besides the fact that Ubuntu as a base distro is a poorly cobbled together mess, Mint not adopting a SNAP store means that they rely on PPAs, and the repos which are running being deprecated in favor of Snap in the *Buntu landscape. Mint is going to have to make a decision soon about the direct to go. If they swap to Debian, there any many distros that do it better (MX being chief). if they adopt Snaps, then why bother using Mint besides using Cinnamon? There's a strong reason why Steam and numerous other projects (Vulkan, Mesa, Intel, etc.) use Arch as a test bed. Ubuntu and all it's satalite distros need to die. They're not user friendly anymore. Snaps are cancer. The distro is an unholy mess that breaks every update. It uses old Kernels for "stability", when newer LTS kernels are readily tested and available. Even from a gaming standpoint, if you read the reviews on Protondb, there's a LOT more "bad" reviews from Ubuntu distro users having issues when a newer driver, kernel, etc. would have easily solved their issue.
