I installed Slackware from floppies back in the day. Slackware stands apart for me in that every software package is built from as-released sources without modification.
And no systemd.
Hahahaha! I remember being so frustrated. I couldn't afford enough floppies to have a full copy of the distro (I was in like, Gr. 9 and my parents didn't want to buy more), so I'd be formatting/filling a couple floppies on a different computer while the one was installing. When I figured out how to do a netinstall my brain almost exploded.
*edit: the thing that will always stand out for me is their meticulous attention to detail and stability. It's just absolutely rock-solid stable and very straight-forward in its design.
Oh, yeah, and I personally threw my (CRT) monitor into the landfill after getting the timings wrong. It was not the hazmat landfill. I am that old.
