It's no help to you but HP makes the worst POS computers of all the big names except maybe Acer and MSI. I used to do purchasing for IT and I learned very quickly that their desktops and laptops failed regularly. HP business class printers and networking equipment are the bees knees though. It could also be the charging circuitry that's resulting in the error and updating the system might help. I don't use Mint but some where in the menu will be the software package manager. Open it up and figure out how to check for updates. Alternatively you can use the command line. If you want more info feel free to ask.
