Please allow me to be more specific.

I'm using Gallium OS. I tried the AppImage version, the tar.bz, version, and the tar.xz version.
The closest I've come to success is being able to extract the tar.xz file to a folder.

With manjaro, I did try those things and only the flatpack worked.

Works for me on SalientOS (Arch) using the snapp

Yes it works fine for basic websites. Google packs a lot of stuff into the closed source part of their software releases, so you're not going to have notifications for example, or video. This is why Brave is such a good browser, it takes Chromium and fills in all the gaps. If only something similar could be done with android. All the roms are shitty.

Brave is good and it even allows for installation of add-ons. I like to use both Ublock Origin and NoScript in combination.

Not to be "that guy", but have you considered jumping ship to an arch distro? They keep a build in the AUR

I've got an old ChromeBook that I tinker on. Hence the Gallium.

Well, beyond that I have nothing I could offer. Manjaro (Arch) is the only way I've ever gotten that fucker to install. I wasn't impressed with it though and went back to brave a few days later

You're the second person to say that in a week.
