Most of my video conversion would be using ffmulticonverter to change a .TS file into a .MP4 basically changing the container like avi to mkv file in less than a second in batches. Well I wasn't sure of my video acceleration till now. I was converting an .MKV with weird encoder for video and audio and it was taking around a minute on FFmulticonverter and also on Handbrake which I couldn't find a setting for hardware acceleration but when I realized it only took the same time because I made two mistakes. I didn't notice the constant quality slider was set to 10 "way to high quality", should be 28 to 30, and the audio had a setting I left to auto so my audio was CD quality at 320 bitrate so my file that took the same as the lower quality FFmulticonverter that created a 75mb file from a 58mb file was really nice quality and smooth as silk playing. Now the overquality settings changed that same 58mb file to over a GB in the same time. It did look nice and also smooth and detailed but I didn't want to use a GB for a short video so recycle bin was it new home.
So if anyone here wants fast encoding then Handbrake is your tool. I was doing around 150fps with the FFm... but the handbrake with the settings right gave me average of 417 and I saw a look of time where it was in the 500's fps area and 631 one time I was watching closely. I remember using on my old machine no card running virtualdub "we need another editor set up like that aka user friendly" and I'd get exited reaching 100 fps with 320 and 480p files but averaging over 400 fps on 720p is giving me a satisfied feeling for once. Hope this helps anyone here with a decision to make on their video conversion or to try out either one of these conversion/reencoding programs.
