My fear is what it'll do to gaming. Fedora gamers have complained loudly about the issues of Wayland (particularly with proton and Wine). Ubuntu's ONLY claim to fame is their support by Steam. There's stuff to fall back on of course, but none of them ideal. And thats not even getting into the Ubuntu offshoots like PopOS, Elementary, and Mint, which use heavily modified DEs that still rely on Xorg

Luckily, work is already underway for a driver which would allow Wine to work directly with Wayland, without the need for XWayland.

Question is, how long will it take them to work all the issues out. I foresee XWayland being a crutch for a very long time.
