This is why The Year of the Linux Desktop hasn't happened. Too many distros and not one of them meets the needs of the majority of would-be users. It's been over 20 years now and there is no serious push to join forces and produce a robust and user friendly distro that can be adopted by newbs and technical users alike. Linux will continue to lag in the background for everyday users unless it can get its shit together and get serious about moving in one unified direction. We don't need more distros. We need fewer distros.
