that's gay.

But it's not at all what this says. Google is closing access to the API that allows chromium to do that dumb chrome bookmark sync between various systems where you have the browser installed, breaking that feature. Distros will still totally allow chromium to be installed as much as they ever have, that feature will just be broken by google which is okay with me: I'd rather not be relying on their bullshit at all anyway.

...unless it costs them and they get nothing of value from me. I'm okay with that.

Google is definitely gay, as is most of their employees.

That mandatory blowjob part of the hiring process might weed out some of the straight guys who try to get hired there.

Meanwhile I’m over here like “Why can’t I get a browser that completely disables most of those things to begin with?”

(Edit: Brave is pretty close)

This is the cover story for putting Firefox everywhere so they can roll out their browser based blocking of "hate" and "white supremacist" content.

Hold on...

>It's a clear part of the value proposition for a browser to remember your bookmarks, history, preferences, passwords, credit cards and more across all of the devices that you use.

Uh... No. Maybe for him but not for me. I don't use any of those neither do I have the need to. As a matter of fact I hate all those sync stuffs storing my personal data "somewhere in the cloud" or some random floating shit I don't have full control over.

>Removing this support directly pushes users to Chrome, where Google can monetize all sorts of tracking activity through their proprietary bits. All of this reeks, and is hostile to the user community as well as to the Linux community.

Well no. I won't use chrome.

Really all I need is maximum rendering perfs with minimal UI and support for ublockorigin and "incognito mode" aka purge all the things when I quit, and that's it. I couldn't care less about the rest. If qutebrowser wasn't so much an awkward duck to handle when it comes to keystrokes and adblocking feature install, I would gladly use just that
