I3

Yeah I'm a fan too, nothing compares to switching workspaces like ttys from super+1 to 9. It's doable on a full fledged DE like ubuntu but the way it's handled by default is lame

I mean when you're deving something, like text editor on workspace 1, browser on workspace 2, and any shit you can think of on the rest of them

Plus the tiling and the overall gain in term of resources allocation and screen real estate, the sober look and feel of black terminal with orange font color for everything in 256 color mode because oddly that's the one color you can't get otherwise...

But then you have the same couple of boring shits to calibrate everytime such as auto mounts... Auto or not auto to begin with... And then if no auto then there are the different types of formatting and if those aren't handled correctly it's piss poor mb/s... That's part of the little things, those sharp angles that need extra polishing after every new install

It's for a VM in this case so no, I won't go for i3 because I need to get shit done fast, it's not really my new pet, more of a disposable one

I find tiled desktops work for me. I do like the whole machine being available for doing what I want rather than wasting resources on a "pretty" desktop.

I cut my teeth on real ttys though, so I accept I'm probably stuck firmly in the past.

The more time goes by the more past makes sense and the more the future looks degenerate as far as I'm concerned

How is that thing called on debian/ubuntu, that screen with all the apps you get by clicking on that tiled grey icon

I hate it, and of course it pisses on itself at the worst moments when proc gets overwhelmed by whatever too much shit going on
