This is bullshit. I looked into it after making a bullshit wage as an engineer (mechanical with honours). You need to go to trade school for a year or two, and then you're eligible for a few more years as an apprentice (if you know someone who can take you), and then after that, you can start making money if some immigrant isn't undercutting you at every step. There's no difference between taking a degree and doing a trade because they're both four fucking years of your life wasted.

Right. But the point of learning a trade is to set up your own business and do work for customers. I can't get a "loicence" until I finish an apprenticeship.
Yes, you get paid, but it's not exactly a large amount. Not enough to care for a family that's for sure.
I'm just bitter because I want to do something that is skill dependant rather than time dependant. IE, I can cram all the requirements necessary in a year or so. With a trade, it doesn't matter how well I do in theory, or the projects/work under my belt, it all comes down to how long I've been doing it.
