I don't think it's feasible, actually. However, the big issue is moronic boomers and younger generations abandoned farming. They got complacent and stopped maintaining what their parents built.
This nation was built on farming. I've no idea where you garnered the gall to suggest people would starve if they didn't work for someone else.
Maybe you guys are all missing that waging was only ever supposed to be temporary.
