People fighting for 15/hour minimum wage

succeed in exactly 2 locations, DC and California as of 2022

hurr durr 15/hr minimum wage is driving inflation

Meanwhile, despite inflation the minium wage has remained stagnant in 19 states since 2009, which was 12.5 years ago. Tracking for inflation 22 states have failed to maintain their minimum wage in line with the nominal inflation that has occured since then, which doesn't account for rising housing costs.

why is socialism becoming so popular and why are my taxes going up to cover social programs for people who can't provide for themselves

¯_(ツ)_/¯

Libertarians having a meltdown because the minimum wage went up apparently causes inflation but money printer going Brrrrr to bankroll Israel and niggers shooting each other apparently is fine to them.

Youre not supposed to be able to provide for yourself off a minimum wage job. That shit is for kids to get weed money and old people to supplement their retirement. If you want a house and a car and a cell phone etc etc etc, you need to be able to achieve higher than the lowest possible paying job

The purpose of the minimum wage was to stabilize the post-depression economy and protect the workers in the labor force. The minimum wage was designed to create a minimum standard of living to protect the health and well-being of employees.

And it did before the country moved off the gold standard. So by design the minimum wage has always been about providing a standard of living.

The standard of living at the time was very different. Much smaller houses, much simpler vehicles, no computers and iphones and bullshit, kids wore hand me down clothes, if your jeans got a rip you patched them. These people now, they want their minimum wage to support a standard of living where everything is excess, throw away, luxury. Go to a low income apartment complex and section ape housing. Look at the cars people drive, the clothes they wear, their big screen tvs, their electric gadgets. What they think minimum wage should provide today is a life of luxury and excess compared to the standards of previous generations.

If minimum wage increases are needed to keep up with inflation, shouldn't all jobs pay more, and shouldn't they increase all your bank balances, and let you bring your cash in to be increased as well?
