One man's strength is another man's downfall. When they say "our strength," they aren't including you.

This seems to be true. When they claim "XXX is OUR STRENGTH", they're not lying. The weakness it endows is their strength to rule by deception.

The "man" is a collective. We are no stronger than our weakest link and without a collective we are just atomised individuals, vulnerable targets, whereas we are strong when united.
Even the parasites have their collective, despite their antisocial behaviours.
