What a failure.

What a failure.

I kinda always thought they (Democrats especially) push too damn many people to vote. Just because they're eligible doesn't mean we should be letting people who can't even manage their own lives elect folks that want to micromanage everyone's. This isn't a race thing, it cuts across everywhere. When ya bud bus folks from the mental health wards or homeless shelters to vote, ya get what ya get.

Universal Suffrage is relatively new in the grand scope of history; funny that after opening it up to all adults, participation plummets!

Maybe go back to the requirement of having a stake in the outcomes? Like being a landowner or head of household

I don't disagree with that ... trouble is, you can't go back, it would never fly in today's society.

In my lifetime, I've always thought the worse thing they ever did politically was giving 18 yr olds the vote. It was 21 and they lowered it in the Viet Nam war era. Hell, at 21, most people (including myself) could give a shit about politics and don't care one way or another. They're just following what someone else tells them they should think and how they should vote to be 'cool'. Making the age 18 made this even worse. You see this in real life every time they interview the campus protestors on almost any subject. Few can even answer why it is they're protesting. They were just told by some liberal professor or HS teacher that 'whatever' is an outrage and they should march against it, therefor earning a C instead of an F - LOL.

Ah, but mistakes can be the foundation for a new evolution of human - and here I emphasize HUMAN - civilization!

Take some parts that are good, build again with a different set of plans, and restart.

The problem is how reliant we are on the convoluted global system. Break those chains and I agree. We should not be selling any of our natural resources and importing the same shit we sell.
