I made a holster for my .357 out of Ox hide. It worked great and I use it daily. It is not really pretty but it works fantastic. Costs like $10. I laced it with the strings inside of a piece of 550 cord.

Those strings are indeed super heavy duty. Was it a veg tanned ox hide?
