If true, its bullshit. Though, if I worked for Apple/Google I would not use a single one of their products or devices for my personal stuff just on the possibility that they could/would do this.

Doesn't surprise me. I've heard Apple has its own "cops" and they've been known to "raid" employees offices and show up at employee's homes demanding access to search.
