Many now teach that the U.S. Constitution, the supreme law of the nation since its ratification in 1788, is broken and should be scrapped.
They have a point in that it is not working, but I would regard, "scrapping," the foundational document of the government to be the abolishment and dissolution of the entity instantiated by such a charter. So as long as we are removing US law, case law, regulatory agencies, the military..., well, I am listening.
We could try operating as states without a US government for a while, and will probably be better off for it.

What about national defense?

It's not that the constitution is outdated as much as the corruption that has bastardized the application of the laws created.from it.
What about national defense?
State defense. States are the nations. They'll have to figure it out. Maybe they will score some deals in the USA going-out-of-business sale.
State defense.
I don't believe individual states could hold up against Russia, China, NK or Iran. Say goodbye to Hawaii, Alaska, USVI, others ... TPTB would want to prermanently disassemble the US before it had a chance to reorganize and reassemble as a powerful nation again. They would also do their damnedest to infiltrate state governments (more than we see now) to guarantee we never achieve greatness again. That's the biggest reason I don't think this is a safe approach to cleansing the nation.
