Sorry to hear that. My childhood had its tough periods due to my Dad's alcoholism but I never wished to trade my folks in. In adulthood I can recognize the stressors in their lives and have forgiven them their errors, praised them for their love, strength and values, thankful for what they taught me ... and I thanked God our lives were as good as they were in spite of the rough patches. It could have been much worse. They are both gone now but dearly missed.
