To be fair "Good" is kind of a shitty response.. kids need guidance and mentorship, not the harsh final sentences we give to adults.

I think the kid's problems are directly caused by the guidance and mentoring he has received. Maybe some old fashioned bullying is a more effective way to establish gender-normativity.
