I keep on looking back at it, and looking at how poorly written it is.
So let's start over, from square one.
He kept on glimpsing through the blinds. They let through a little light, but they were covered with an oily grey dust. Years of neglect. Years of self-hatred. Years of not caring.
And he was only six months into his lease.
He sat in his chair, and looked towards the screen. The woman on the television told him not to change the channel. Channeling anything else would be a mistake. If he were to channel something else, he would certainly miss something important. So he sat there, and tuned his mind as best he could, To make certain he didn't miss out on any important incoming information.

Indeed. The Real World was not to be believed without important observation.
So he sat in his chair, and lit another cigarette, and poured himself a glass of whiskey.
The lady on the TV told him that he needed to stay put, and concentrate.
He knew he had to do it, if not for himself, for all those who were to follow.
This will be the series finally of the Real World! Make sure you watch, the Real World won't ever be around again!
You motherfucker. All you did with that was set the mood. Don't get me wrong, I think it's great. But if you're going to write a book, you have to have a story to tell. Give me an outline. Where/when does your story begin. I can picture a sullen man watching TV with a whiskey in his hand... But to tell a story, you have to have a beginning, a middle (great scene with the TV and that lady) and an end.
And I fell asleep, but was not woke.
