I can guarantee that at the time no one gave a fuck that the guy was jewish or even suspected any correlation, they were appalled that he committed a crime so gross and horrible that he framed a completely innocent person, then lied about it, lied again, pulled strings to influence the judge's verdict, and finally people had to break him out of his cell to bring him to justice.
