Is that a term you actually use where you come from? Here is has always been called Greek lightning. I wonder if it is a regional thing.

jew lightning is used where I come from, as well as things like jew iron (strapping with holes in it, because it's missing half of it's metal and is hole-ier than you,) etc.

Huh, we usually call that chink bullshit over here

I heard the term long before chinese crud started showing up. That's what my grandfather called it.

Yes, I always understood it as jewish lightning.

...the building was “partially vacant” and partly used for storage.

Really depends on what what was being stored in there and by who.

Reading the other comments, there's been plenty of jewish lightning around. Plenty of insurance payouts for buildings that were never rebuilt. It's a scam as old as insurance, itself. Just have to wait to see if the contents of the storage are ever made public

I was hearing a bizarre amount of fire truck activity when reading about this. Seems like a nationwide problem.

We had jew lightning hit a couple buildings around here. One was a dollar general, a new store opened next street over and the old one mysteriously had a fire. Other was an arby's that went out of business, sold the building to someone who completely remodeled it in the style that arby's was using at the time and lasted a few weeks before declaring bankruptcy, then the arby's was back. Strange times.
