Thought crime has been here since the first "hate crime" law. I imagined that it would get thrown out immediately, but it looks like no one has challenged it yet, and people keep yelling HATE CRIME about stuff, so 2 minutes hate is also here.

Mark my words, 90% of police would enforce thought crime laws no questions asked. They have no reason to worry that they could be next, because they have no thoughts.
