After they said they wouldn’t… the whole system started to collapse I bet. Massive corporate bank runs were probably happening throughout the day. Dominos would have fallen, the whole thing crashes. I remember the day they raised the insured amount to 250k, I think it was within an hour of the entire United States financial system collapsing forever if I remember the stories told afterward.

I laugh at it a lot. Friends have been calling the collapse for 10 years, and then the gov or fed just makes up new rules as they go, yes to kick it down the road a bit further. Crazy shit.
