At one time I thought Mel wasn't living up to the expectations of his father (the guy was amazing) since Mel just went into acting, but if this goes through it will be worth it all.
Before I get any hate, Mel is great and one of my favorite actors but still...it's just acting. It's like if your father was a self made trillionaire and you just went to improv classes.
I keep hearing such references to his father. What's the deal with his father? Who is he?
Mel's father, Hutton, had both his parents die by the age of 15 and he supported his brother while going to high school, where he graduated third in his class. Then he entered seminary but he dropped out because he thought the doctrine they were teaching was disgusting.
He then served as a marine and fought at the Battle of Guadacanal. He was injured while working on a railyard and won the judgment. After his IQ was tested in the genius range he learned computer programming. He went on Jeopardy where he went undefeated on five shows. He performed masses in Latin and believed that every pope after Pope John XXIII is heretical and there has not been an actual pope since. He also adopted a kid and had ten of his own. Ended up with dozens of grandkids.
I'm sure I'm missing a few things but that's pretty impressive.
Interesting. Your summary is more than I expected. Thank you.
