Not so clear. Take in consideration that these first civilizations appear just after long cold period. Climate was very different in this age,big part of planet is still under ice. Lepenski Vir have unique micro climate conditions. Also there is rare phenomena, natural water whirlpool which push boat from shore, then back it to the shore. Yap... but what is with metallurgy, the beginning of plants cultivation, the beginning of animal domestication, literacy, wheels, etc. Like I say, Academia try to locate beginning of civilization on Middle East, because of .... reasons. For god sake we actually don't know in which century we live for sure. There is big probability that 'error' is 200 -300 years.
Nope, Alexander can't cut such knot... At least without more powerful tool than sword. However, we probably never know for sure. History is 'compromise' many interest are involved, and in such cases, no one give a fuck about truth.

History is written by the victors, I get it. but you conceivably cannot get an entire people to speak a totally different language overnight, that's why etymology is a somewhat reliable tool... I buy into it more than the other methods...
I'm from Balkan... this is reason why I know so much about this stuff. Even here such stuff are suppressed. Uncle of one my friend was famous archeologist which for years study these locations, but communist regime silence him and put his research under the rug. So on one side you have researches with valid data and on other side our Academia which mostly want Status Quo. Many stuff are verified by world scientists, but again stream of 'conventions' is so strong. So even in my country science community don't want to talk about it. Weird thing, right?
I will try to find some video in English. It's hard to me to talk in details about it. So you can hear more about language, religion and other connections between Europe and east. However, common people like us, can't know for sure. We don't have knowledge, equipment, etc. so we only can believe in some stuff, without possibility to proving it on our own.
