I think what you are saying is almost totally false. Unless you come from the argument that a lot of our taxes go to israel.The company does have to pay a fee to attain whichever of the hundreds of kosher certifications they want.

Ultimately, the costly marks can tend to be useless anyways, since the letter "k" is not copyrightable. Anyone can print a letter on their packaging. It is your job to know what it means.
