We'll likely never convince the general population that the holocaust involved less than one million killings, and that most of those were actually deaths from disease and starvation due to war.

However, we can convince the public that hitler was jewish.

and thus make them not care because it amounted to infighting among one historical cultural group, rather than two.

also it gives people a new paradigm of acceptable thought:

if hitler was jewish, then SOME jews are bad.

Where before most people were incapable of even thinking the thought for fear of 'muh nazis' and being considered one.

Make that a topic of discussion, and you normalize saying some jews are bad because hitler was bad.

You can see where that leads.

Some of them have already come to this conclusion, which is why some of them want to tear down the hitler mythos, before it hurts them any further culturally.

It's mostly been used to traumatize each new generation of jews from a young age, and make them malleable for radicalization. So tearing down the mythos is actually a good thing, not just for us, but for them as well because we'll have put a stop to intergenerational-indoctrination-through-atrocity-propaganda.
