Blacks were actually treated better during slavery than they were after being "freed" into proto-globohomo capitalism. shorter working hours, food, shelter, and medical care all covered by the masta (slaves were expensive so losing one to mistreatment was a big financial loss to be avoided) and much safer working conditions on a plantation compared to white wageslaves working in mines or factories.
