I haven’t read the article yet, but that doesn’t make any sense: most offenders are younger males and part of the unspoken societal advantage to imprisoning them for years is that their testosterone will be lower upon release and also it makes them less likely to breed. If someone commits a murder when they’re 19 and serves 1000 years in their mind, they’re still physically 19.
I guess there is the aversive therapy aspect to it all, but what Clockwork Orange demonstrated is true: Once the aversives are gone, the person will revert and we know this to be 100% true with sex offenders. They can serve 10,000 years in their minds and 30 years in the can and still diddle a kid.
