The severe pulmonary oedemas are supposed to be the result of cytokine storm induced by the viruses spike proteins. That is why allegedly so many patients in ICUs had trouble breathing and where put on ECMO. The mRNA-induced Spike Protein production brings the goods to other parts of the body, which apparently causes an immune overreaction there as well.
