There should be no SALT at all. It completely subverts the constitutional division of powers. If states or municipalities want to raise taxes, they can deal with the fallout themselves. For that matter, we should make up the bulk of our federal tax revenue with tariffs.

This and interest only mortgages were a "deduct your rent on your taxes" scheme for coastal shitheads.

This is what always ticked me off about the whole red states take in more federal taxes than blue states. First, the way this is calculated ignores SALT, ignores local income taxes, ignores unfunded liabilities in the future, to get its result. To call California somehow a non bankrupt, progressive, functional utopia is laughable at this point, and yet according to the (((data))) California is less broke than North Dakota. These states also completely ignore the roundabout way a Cali company can tap into another state's funds (Walmart comes to mind), by misdirecting where the funding comes from.
