Sure you can see them with the naked eye, but they dont look like anything worth worshiping. Just dots.
Cant see the rings of saturn, or the storm on jupiter or any moons. Just blurry dots. Strange thing to make a god out of.

I guess we disagree. Makes a degree of sense to me that if a people were going to make a god out of a natural observation that the "wandering stars" make as much sense as "Thor's thunderbolts".

If someone didnt know about planets, i can see how they could deify them as celestial watchers.
