A Carroll, Iowa, man was charged twice in one night for operating while intoxicated, criminal complaints show.
According to court documents, 40-year-old Kenneth Kayce Harris was actually stopped by a police officer in Carroll three times.
Arrest records show Harris was first pulled over by an officer Tuesday night and charged with driving without a valid license and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
Later the same night, he was pulled over on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. Harris was charged with operating while intoxicated – first offense, driving while license revoked and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
According to Carroll police, Harris was cited and released from the Carroll County Jail due to the full capacity there.
Early Wednesday morning, that same officer saw Harris drive by, a criminal complaint shows.
“Harris pulled into the parking lot of the Fairview Village Apartments and parked the car. I followed behind and observed Harris step out of the driver's seat of the vehicle. It was apparent at this time that he was more intoxicated than my previous encounter with him. Inside the vehicle, a partially drank Bud Light Chelada and a partially drank bottle of Fireball Whiskey. Neither of those beverages were in the vehicle during the previous encounter,” the arresting officer said in a criminal complaint.
Harris was arrested and transported to the Carroll County Courthouse, where the officer said he failed a field sobriety test. He was taken to the Carroll County Courthouse again and charged with operating while intoxicated – first offense, driving while revoked, failure to provide proof of financial liability and open container.
Harris was released from the jail Wednesday on a $2,000 bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
