Shit was so horrific everyone completely forgot about the other car he collided head on with, even after the paramedics got there. I was the car directly behind the the whole thing and suddenly something clicked in my brain "Holy shit there was another car". I went running and found it in a ditch. It was a Volvo with the front wheel smeared backwards to where the driver door should be. The middle aged woman, y'know, someone's mom. Was a complete bloody mess but conscious. I then proceeded to ask the dumbest question of my entire life... "Are you okay!". She she just whimpered "no". I then started screaming at the paramedics to come attend to her because she at least stood a chance.

Fuck man, shit sucks thinking about.

Edit: I saw the whole thing happen in what felt like slow motion. The guy was drifting over the double yellows and oncoming traffic was arriving. 55MPH highway. Oh shit shit shit.... FUCK!!!

You may have saved her life. That is a win to be proud of. Imagine being a traffic cop or paramedic ... it must take them some time to harden their resistance to the gore.

Right? One time when I was younger I was smoking some weed at a friends house who was studying to be an EMT. He had a text book, full color, detailing almost every imaginable injury. Looked through it a bit and... NOPE, fuck this shit I'm out.

Not a fan of gore myself. Mega Cringe. But that wouldn't stop me from trying to save someone in peril. Thankful I haven't had the opportunity to prove it.
