Execs getting bonuses and shit tier pricing models may be part of it but 80% of the reason people pirate shit is to find stuff NOT ON those services.

That's kind of what the article, in that shit-grade techdirt way, says - except that it also points out that people are getting fatigued by having so many different places to go (and pay for) if they want more than a singular thing.

In essence, while the stuff may be available, it's sometimes a this or that but not both proposition.

There are too many. If you add up all these streaming services you've basically nullified the purpose of "Cord Cutting" in the first place.

Yeah, that was basically what they wanted. A return to the same old model that everyone hates. Rather, many people are saying fuck off and only subscribing to at most one service a month then canceling them. Hell, half of the time you can't find what you want anyway. I'm fairly sure most of the people I know have their own seed boxes and just download everything now.

I'm sincerely assuming this is bullshit propaganda so as to facilitate interesting in their garbage. Seriously, what is there that's worth pirating?

Everyone whose anadote I could provide to the question: "why did you decide to pay for a streaming service" has "convenient access to classic content library" in their answer. Sometimes that was followed up by "no advertising" or "high quality stream".

Since streaming is now turning back into boomervision, I understand the 'return' to piracy.

"anecdote". Or quite possibly, "antidote".

Techdirt has always been a strange website. I noticed a long time ago that they tend to be correct in reporting, per se, but not necessarily to the depth or scope of the problems they report.

A reason that I didn't see mentioned, is that these streaming platforms have taken political positions, (Disney) or host questionable material. (Netflix)

There's already new groups replacing RARBG.
