Yes, I kind of assumed that they were probably getting a lot of bot traffic - as was any prominent poster on Twitter. They're now seeing their real numbers, which are still impressive - but not ego stroking like before.
It's amusing that they mention mastodon and it really shows how lefty they are. Mastodon was built, from the ground up, to be a platform that was able to be censored, much like Lemmy. All of those platforms are censor happy. Sure, that's where the people are, but I doubt some of those systems have much audience. Mastodon in particular supposedly has less that 9M accounts across the entire federated system...
