Ironically though by cutting the grass we prevent larger weeds and shrubs from competing with it, we cull it but we also extend the lifetime of the field indefinitely when in nature it would only last a couple of years.

Funny but pruning ALL plants makes them grow better....

Well if you read closely ot makes sense its calling predatory bags to come assist. So we are killing weeds and they are calling to bugs for help. This is why cutting you grass makes it grow better let alone the nitrogen release from clippings if you return them to the thatch via mulching.
