The road towards workplace equity for women has been a long one — and throughout the pandemic, there have been even more hurdles. According to a report by the National Women’s Law Center, women lost over 5.4 million net jobs since February 2020, the start of the pandemic’s uptick. For the month of December 2020, 100% of the jobs lost were held by women while men saw an increase of 16,000 jobs — signifying the steepest drop in the women’s labor force since 1988.
