The app is mainly designed to help users block and track lost or stolen smartphones across all telecom networks, using a central registry. It also lets them identify, and disconnect, fraudulent mobile connections.

With more than 5 million downloads since its launch, the app has helped block more than 3.7 million stolen or lost mobile phones, while more than 30 million fraudulent connections have also been terminated.

Ummm....if I call the carrier and tell them the phone is stolen they can brick it remotely. Pajeet Communications can't do that so a government monitoring app is needed?

This is becoming the standard, it seems. Even in Russia, the gov blocked all non-state enforced globohomo alternatives (telegram, etc), and forced everyone to use their spy messenger called Max (spelled Macs), which people turned around to lovingly call it Scam. Poor kids whose name is Maxim are getting bullied relentlessly as we speak because of it, they didn't deserve it.

Totally. Besides, Indians aren’t known to be scammers, which adds more cred to the idea.

Hahaha I love it. I usually just answer the phone with "Bhen Chod" for unknown numbers, which usually makes them hang up.
