Lol. That's what I was gonna say. I have stupidly thin, fine hair and have been pressured my whole life to get that crap. I've always just laughed, rolled my eyes and carried on. Sure, I have a pixie cut and sometimes people assume I'm a dyke since I don't wear makeup, but again, I just carry on.

We called those nasty braids nigger snakes in college. I went to an all girls college that had a LOT of blacks and those braids were dropped all over campus. Soooo nasty.
